Hi! It’s me, Audri Relucio. Today we’re going to learn about hummus. Yum!
- Hummus is made of cooked chickpeas (garbanzo beans), tahini and an acid, typically lemon juice.
2. It comes from the Arabic word which literally means chickpeas.
3. It comes from the Middle East, specifically in the region of the Levant and Egypt, though its exact birthplace is debated among countries like Egypt, Syria, and Palestine.
4. Hummus flavors vary from classic Mediterranean with tahini, lemon, and garlic to sweet, smoky, and spicy options like roasted red pepper, chipotle, and harissa.
5. You can eat it with pita bread or toasted siopao.
